The Perfect After School Snack
This healthy after school snack combines some kid favorite foods into a quick snack that kids can eat by the handful, removing all parent snack guilt. A bonus, if you sometimes find yourself caught with your hand in the chip bag, this will also satisfy your cravings while adding some protein into your day! If your kids are not freaked out by chia seed you can also add a spoonful to the mix making it extra healthy! Lead your kids out of the pantry and over to the cereal jar today!
Maple Cheerio Snack Mix
1 box (8 cups) of either maple, peanut butter chocolate or honey nut Cheerios or mix them up
1 1/2 C creamy peanut butter or nut butter
2t vanilla extract
2T maple syrup or honey
Optional 1T chia seed
Mix the peanut butter, vanilla extract, maple syrup or honey and heat in microwave or saucepan for around 1 minute so you can easily stir.
Pour over the Cheerios and stir. Put in refrigerator just until chilled so it’s not sticky. I like to store mine in the fridge but it’s not necessary.
For a fun Friday snack, add chocolate chips or M&Ms
