Vanilla Chocolate Chip Scones

Vanilla Chocolate Chip Scones

I have tried several scone recipes and this one is by far the best. These also make the perfect gift for your dearest friends!

Vanilla Chocolate Chip Scones

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/3 cup sugar in the raw (if you don’t have just use granulated sugar)

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 sticks (8 ounces) unsalted butter, chilled

  • 2 cups mini chocolate chips

  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 large egg

The Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup milk, plus more if needed for thinning

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 5 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted, plus more if needed

  • Dash of salt

Now let’s make it!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350

  2. Stir together flour, sugars, baking powder, and salt

  3. Cut the butter in tiny cubes and kneed into the flour mixture using your hands (it looks like small peas)

  4. Mix together the cream, vanilla, and egg and then add to the flour mixture

  5. Stir with a fork or your hands until it comes together

  6. Fold the dough onto a lightly floured surface and mold into a 12x7 inch rectangle that is around 1/2 inch thick.

  7. Cut the large rectangle into 12 smaller rectangles then cut each smaller rectangle diagonally to form each scone

  8. Place each scone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

  9. Bake at 350 for around 18 minutes.

The Glaze:

Mix all ingredients. When the scones have completely cooled dip or drizzle the glaze on each scone. Get ready to live!
